No posts here for a week!

I'm new to this site. I was surprised when checking everyday that this area has been so quiet! I usually buy my stuff from: www.mintproducts.com
Anyone else shop there? I usually buy small quantities, my budget is kinda tight. So I started buying a couple coins per paycheck. I could probably do better with prices if I was buying large quantities, but not right now. Their service has been very prompt and excellent.

I gave a few coins to my kids who don't live with me. Just in case of crisis or just to hang on to for the future.

What do folks out there prefer in silver coins, American Eagles, Maple Leafs,
or junk silver? The Pandas seem to be high priced. Are they worth the investment for collector value?

Take care and any input is great. Let's not be so quiet out there! :)

Try local pawn shops ( I get 15% over spot at one when he has 'em and is cheaper than postage.), or Joe the Jewler here (I haven't used him but he has a good rep at GIM and decent prices - I just don't have a good place for him to ship).

Hobo, I suggest you try something different when you log on. There have been several hundred posts this last week.

Oh, I was refering to this particulat thread (Gold-Silver-coins-Numismatics), but that's O.K. I like reading some of the other threads, but the coin subject threads are my favorite. I like to see what others are buying and where they are getting them. I also like to see how people are storing them. I don't have much, but would hate it if they were lost somehow.

I am finding it amazing how many folks I talk with, family, friends and co-workers, who think that anyone who buys silver or gold is some kind of wacko. When I try and explain to them that paper money is worthless and they keep printing more and more, and that it will all come tumbling down someday, they think that I'm a dooms-dayer survivalist. My whole idea would be to keep my house and feed my family. If it doesn't get that bad, so maybe the PM's that I bought could be sold for a nice profit.

Hobo, you have the correct outlook, they are the ones who are crazy!

Hobo? thank you buddy for doing the right thing, by that I mean buying a couple of coins per paycheck,,,,,, there is a book that was my guide by the name of "The Richest Man in Babylon" and it says that you should set aside 10% of your pay ,,,,,

The only thing that I don't like is the fact that you are giving your kids anything, kids will be kids and they will sell them, better if you were to keep them for them,,,,,,,,, keep on trucking.

Welcome to the lonely PM wackos club. None of my family members are listening either. If we all would buy a little with each paycheck then maybe when this whole thing goes bust we will as a people still have something of value to rebuild on. As it is, we are going to be the laughing stock of the weirld. Pretty sad considering how young we are as a country. Pride goes before a fall. I think we are in for a really big fall! :banghead:

Halophyte, I just had a revelation from looking at the picture you posted, you say it is the all seeing eye of Sauron.....I vividly see the "Virgin of Guadalupe"! I personally think very highly of her and on this election day believe it as a sign that the "Scrub" will be vanquished. See, I'm religious too!http://www.goldismoney.info/forums/i...ies/bandit.gif

Hobo,

The more educated they are, the more wacko they will think of your silver bug. I've stopped talking to family about it too. As for giving coins, if tshtf, they will come looking for more. I am not against giving to family, but not PMs.

Keep details yourself and keep quiet. This is the only place I talk about it at all. Silence is the first line of securing storage. But since there are those who know you have some, keep that amount in a safety deposit box or something. That way if they come looking they will find what they expect.

My brother has a Ph D in ecomonics and questions my decision to put away some silver coins. I guess that's the way it goes. :banghead:

As for giving them to the kids, I gave my daughter a small box with some junk silver coins. She lives with my ex and if TSHTF, I want my daughter to be able to buy some food. My ex just lost her house, and is declaring bankruptcy. She wouldn't know what to do if there was a crisis. I instructed my daughter to hide the money, don't tell anyone and only take it out in an emergency. It wasn't a large amount of PM, becuase I figured in the fact that someone could swipe it or spend it. My daughter is trustworthy and knows that I gave her this because I care about her. I told her that if anyone asks about the coins, just say that they are a few old coins she was saving.

I've learnt my lesson about trying to talk to others about this. I never told them that I was buying PM, just asked their thoughts about it. So I have learned to keep my mouth shut. Most folks jump to the conclusion that you are crazy or something.

The only other person that I can talk with is my son who is in the army and deployed. I take a few bucks of his each month and buy him some junk silver.

Hobo? so your brother has a Ph D? goody for him, I only have a 10th grade education and in 1980 made almost 3/4 of a mill with silver, how much does your Ph D brother has?

The problem with some people with a lot of education is that they only know what they have learned from others an no longer have the instints for reality.

I feel for you and your concern for your Daughters well being. I think you are wise to be giving your Daughter silver as a way to plant the seed for Pm's to be part of a long range savings strategy. I also have a Daughter and give her silver on every occasion possible (birthdays, Christmas, loosing baby teeth, graduating each grade, ect.). I bought her a "treasure chest" to store her stash and she is completely sold on PM's.

As far as giving your Daughter emergency funds, if I my be so bold to advise (which I am...hehe), I would think that giving her a debit card with a set amount of funds available to her might be more helpful in a bind. The reason I say this is because in an emergency she may not be able to access the market value of the silver because of the steps involved in liquidating it. She runs the very real risk of getting screwed out of them by businesses only willing to give her face value.

I hope your Son stays safe, I also have Son attending one of the military academy's and worry about all the fine young people so loyally serving this country with such faith in what is told to them. This isn't an easy time for anybody but it sounds especially challenging for you and your family at this time. My best to you and yours.

Hello all,

Dare to do, dare to be silent. Why waste energy trying to tell others about PM? Why not use that energy to manifest what you want in your life?

If you are buying silver here is a great place to buy from. Now matter how much you buy the shipping price stays the same. (for now at least)

good luck all,
take care,

Thanks for the new site, I'm checking out their prices and I might give them a try. Hey, are you the same 'Indy' that is on other forums? :D
